A great little video of Clapham Beck, Yorkshire. We ran this in March 2009, the beck is reached by paddling accross a lake and then walking up through bamboo and rhodendron bushes along the left bank. It contains a small gorge, a few trees and some nice little drops and slides.
A short video of Cray Gill – a small tributary near the top of the Wharfe Valley, which contains a few fun drops upto around 5 metres. The video shows Jonny Briggs and myself on the first full descent in May 2007 – although the levels had obviously dropped off we’d waited nine months and weren’t about to say no! Although never referred to in the text, this beck was the subject of an article published in Paddles Magazine.
Jonny Briggs and I paddle Janet’s Foss: A waterfall steeped in history – it is said a fairy (Janet) used to live in the cave behind the waterfall, long before the pool became used as a sheep dip by local farmers. This 15 foot fall in Malham, near Skipton, is now designated as a SSSI (Site of Special Scientific Interest) because the minerals in the water deposit on rock of the fall, meaning that it actually grows outwards instead of eroding back into the cliff (think a stalagmite in a cave). It could have done with a bit more water but was still ok - excellent coursework avoidance!
